As a prospective home owner, it is important that you instruct a Solicitor to act on your behalf to look after your interests throughout the buying process.

You are entitled to use a solicitor of your choosing, but it is very important that you select a solicitor who is experienced in the scheme through which you are purchasing. This will ensure that unnecessary delays are not incurred which will prevent you from meeting the exchange and completion deadlines relating to your new home and may result in additional legal costs being incurred.

You should also ensure that you obtain details of the fee that your solicitor will be charging to act for you on your purchase, including any disbursements (additional charges), before you agree to use their services.
